Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) are the thousands of small ecosystems around the coasts of the planet that provide food, livelihood, and natural balance to the people and animals living near them. Faced with overfishing and poor management, our planets fisheries have become overfished and risk being, quite literally, permanently depleted of fish. The World Wildlife Fund for Nature has poured massive efforts into helping communities understand how to manage a fishery so it can naturally replenish itself and provide a long future of resources for the people who live around it.
